In his photographic work, Wouda examines both the relationship between people and between people and their environment. Every social community has codes of behaviour. In an environment where the private and public overlap, like the school party, depicted in this photograph, social codes change, and so does the interaction between people.
By thematizing both group dynamics and individuals navigating them, Wouda captures a social phenomenon in a fascinating way. He usually shoots his pictures from a high vantage point, which produces revealing images that invite endless exploration.
