According to artist Morgan Betz, every work of art should be able to answer the question of whether it has any added value of its own. Beauty alone is not enough according to Betz. He looks for relevance in his work, for what makes the difference, for what matters. His paintings are not always beautiful in the classical sense of the word; he is looking for the beauty of the imperfect, the disturbed, often with a tragicomic reference. He takes the subjects for his paintings from everyday life.
