What do you discover?
Bonajo's work is funny and absurdist, but also has socially-critical undertones. She introduces us to other ways of thinking and living, taking an interest in the mythical and inexplicable, something that is often given little attention in our Western society. For this series, the photographer went in search of people who live closely connected to nature. In the forests of Poland, she "met" people who believe they are descended from the plant kingdom. They renounce Western and scientific thinking and celebrate the mystical. The boundary between man and nature seems to blur in these photographs; are we looking at a plant or at a human being buried under plants?
