Art walks
In the late 1980s, UMC Utrecht started collecting art. Since then, the hospital has collected, contemporary art by artists living and/or working in the Netherlands.
With the art collection, the hospital aims to provide a picture of the developments within contemporary art in the Netherlands. This is one of the original objectives of the art policy. By now the collection comprises approximately 2,100 works that can be found in the public areas of the University Medical Center Utrecht, the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital (WKZ) and the Hijmans van den Bergh building. The art collection is freely accessible.
There are two ‘art walks’ that you can walk with your smartphone or tablet. The works of art included in the walks are recognizable by a route sign with QR code. You will find them in the public area at the UMC Utrecht and the Hijmans van den Bergh building.
